Should I take the increased dosage of my meds now?

Question:
My doctor increased my medicine on Wednesday. Should I start now with taking the increased dosage or wait until I run out & refill the prescriptions? I know it would help me if I started the new dosage, but with my Medicaid & Medicare, if I took the increase now, I'd run out of meds faster & won't be able to get my prescriptions filled soon & would have to wait until the time to get them filled for free.

Answers:
I am surprised they didn't let you fill the prescription right away since your doctor changed the dosage. They are wrong for not doing that. Since they have to be that way though, do not risk running out of your medicine. So you are going to have to wait until time for your new prescription unfortunately.
You are right maybe just ask your doctor!
I would call your doctor back and ask him what the risks would be if you waited until the next month. Tell him/her your insurance concerns. If it is something that you can live with and it won't be a risk to your health if you don't take the extra dosage, then you would probably be okay with just waiting. It probably just depends on what you are talking it for. If you really feel like you need it, maybe you should go ahead and then try to get a new prescription when yours runs out or try to work it out with your insurance company based on your doctor's new orders.
If the Doc increased your medication, you need to start now. This is something you should have discussed with the Doc, but I say, start now.
I don't think any of us are qualified to give medical advice. You should really ask your doctor.
