After returing form Mexico... do I have the flu or could it be something else?

Question:
I just returned from Mexico after my first trip there, and now I feel like i have the flu? Any suggestions of what I could have or what to treat it with?

I didn't drink the water, and i was very careful about sanitation while i was there, but now I feel really bad. I have a slight fever, a headache, an upset stomach, a really runny nose, and all of my muscles ache.

Answers:
The symptoms point to a viral infection (possibly the flu). However, it may be a bacterial infection, since you have a headache and a runny nose as well. Go see a doctor if you have had these symptoms more than 3-4 days. Cause if untreated, you're just gonna feel worse.

you may want to go see the doc asap. It may be the flu bug but since youdid just get back from mexico you might want to be on the safe side. you could have picked up some type of bacteria or parasite. be on the safe side!!
you probably have a viral infection of some sort...may have caught it from a fellow flyer, a relative, b/f or g/f or you may have eaten something that was contaminated. Go light on food and heavy on clear liquids for a few days and take some flu-type drugs if you can. Might even be a cold. Flu pretty much knocks you on your butt so it's likely not the flu.
I don't know about Mexico, but in South American countries there is malaria and dengue. You should check in with a doc immediately cause your symptoms sound like malaria to me. Does anyone know if you can get malaria in Mexico?
