Associations with foods when I have been ill?

Question:
There are times when I have had bad nausea or other stomach-related issues that I have then been unable to eat the food (s) that I ate directly before I got sick.

In fact, in some cases I get a bit nauseous even seeing, smelling or in some instances thinking of the food. So there are some foods I haven't eaten in years.

Is this normal, or screwy? And why?

Answers:
Nope, it's perfectly normal. It is your body's built in defense mechanism. Some people might think it's screwy, but it's not. It's a proven scientific fact that foods that have made you ill in the past are not tasteful or appealing to you in the future. You are just in tune to your body more than others. Also, be aware that your tastes change about every 7 years or so. You might not like a food now (might turn your stomach to look at it) but 7 years from now you might be craving it.
sounds like a mental block.something similar happens to me with cubed steaks. yuck! i wouldn't worry about it. it'll will most likely stop on it's own.
... depends what the foods are; something odorous or lacking eye appeal could do it.
On the other hand, I just recalled that I used to love stuffed peppers. I ordered them out once, got sick, and haven't eaten them since . and that was 3 years ago! So, not to worry, I guess it's normal to make the association between the food and getting ill. Now that you've got me thinking about it, I'm remembering many more instances!
I think we all do that sometimes... I think it's normal. Like 10 years (when I was 14) I had eaten something from Sonic and had one of those ocean water drinks... Well, I think I got food poisoning and never touched another one of those again! And, all my vomit was blue. Ew. I don't even know that it wasn't just the food, but the correlation with the drink made it impossible for me to drink one again.
