What does it mean when a lab is accredited?? What does that mean for the lab?

Question:

Answers:
It means that their opinion is accepted as the opinion of a medical professional. Don't go somewhere that is not accredited. You never know what corners they have cut.
It usually means that they are accredited by an organization like the one that certifies hospitals. The main effect to the lab is whether they can get Medicare payments. Without accreditation, they can't, which doesn't necessarily mean they are a bad lab. They just may not have been willing to go through the paperwork to get it.
