Giving blood?

Question:
Im going to go and give blood on friday just wanted to know what i should be prepared for and if it really is how the website and leaflets say. Also any top tips like what to take with me if i should eat and drink before hand and what etc thanks

Answers:
definately eat and drink, I almost passed out after I left from giving blood, don't do anything strenous afterwards.
Relax and know that you helping to save a life by doing this drink lots of fluid after you give blood stay out of the sun that includes tanning beds and eat before you give blood takes all of five minutes to give.. If it is your first time they will make a big fuss over you. I must say way to go!! I give on a regular bases.
drink plenty of fluids (water or juice) and eat a good meal, like the other poster I nearly passed out after giving blood the last time, but its not a bad experience, just don't' look at what they are doing and wear trousers, I remember I wore a skirt and they put the bag by my leg, it was not a pleasant experience feeling the warm bag against me, ugh.

Afterwards relax, go with some one or arrange to meet someone for tea or coffee before driving home.
Just eat and drink normally . If this is your first time you will be asked to fill in forms in relation to any infection you may have been exposed to .
A small blood test is taken (finger prick) this will be analised before any of your donated blood is used .
The actual process of blood donation is really pain free . I don't particularly like needles , so I just don't look .
When complete you are then taken to an area to sit down for 10 -15 mins , given drink and biscuit .
Well done , more like you are needed
Definitely have something to eat and drink before you go.
When you get there you will have to answer a few questions , then you will have a finger prick test to check your not anaemic, as long as that's ok they will take your blood, after they have finished you will lie there for 15 minuets and then you can go and get a cold drink and a biscuit.
Good luck and well done
nothing to it mate.
i was a bit apprehensive my first time.
1-yeah have something to eat and drink but no need to go overboard!
2-dont really need to take anything with you as long as you know all your personal details.
3-dont get put off, recently they've started asking slightly personal questions(sexuality etc.)they just doing a job dont fret!
4-a bonus is you get your blood tested everytime you donate which is a free mind settler for yourself
5-i've always looked at it as an oil change for my body(once they take a pint of blood, your body produces new!
6-most of all,i swear you'll feel good/proud of yourself afterwards!
have a good one,u wont look back!!!!!!
Eat and drink normally before you donate , but no alcohol .
They will give you a blood test (finger prick) and you will lie down and it will be over in five minutes , no big deal .
Take it easy afterwards and have something to eat , a sandwich or so and no alcohol
hi, all they will do is put a belt like thing around your arm to get your veins to come more visable and easier to take the blood. id advise just go in try not to think about it to much and while the nurse/ doctor is taking the blood look away. if you do feel weak take something sugary such as a juice drink or choclate.
