Why can't you wear makeup prior to being sedated for a surgery?

Question:

Answers:
The surgeons have different things they have to watch for during surgery, and makeup may prevent them from being able to see your face to check on different things. (This is the same reason people usually have to remove at least 2 acrylic nails for surgery, as they keep doctors from being able to check your circulation by looking at your nail.) Also, depending on where the surgery is, the makeup may interfere with what the surgeons need to do or may have a chance of getting into the cuts and causing problems.
I've never heard that before- interesting!
well firstly its good to have clean skin to reduce the risk of infection, and secondly you can't wear nail varnish because it intefers with the reading from the monitor that they clip onto your index finger.
becuase it will smear all over! J/K - the color of your face and finger/toe nails helps the doctors get a quick visual of the way your body is reacting. So get some nail polish remover too!
Because they make some judgements about your oxygen levels by your skin colour.
Before I was being put out for an emergency c-section, I couldn't believe the nurses were taking time to take off my nail polish - but it was because the little monitor goes on the finger and they need to see if the nails turn blue if there is no oxygen.
