What happens if you take 20mg of buspirone (buspar)? Have you done it?

Question:
I have 10mg tablets. I'm supposed to take ONE tablet TWICE a day. I want to double up so that I can calm down a bit. Will this work?

Answers:
Well, Buspirone actually comes in a 20mg tablet, so it won't hurt you. However, you really should discuss changing the dosage with your doctor before you go playing around with meds.
If they are not working, call your dr. Sometimes some meds work better for some people than for others and he/she can give you a different medicine. 40 mg a day is a LOT so call them and they can answer your question over the phone (since I don't know your weight, age, etc. I can't tell you much more)
buspar sucks as an anti-anxiety med. Tell your doctor to try some benzodiazapenes.
