Why would I have severe heartburn on Adderall XR but not the original Adderall?

Question:
I am a 30 year old female who just started Adderall XR yesterday. For the first time since pregnancy I had heartburn last night. I was in so much pain! The burning has now stopped but I am having trouble swallowing because it feels like my esophagus has a blockage where my stomach and esophagus meet or maybe it is so irritated and swollen. I am waiting for my doctors office to open but until then can you explain why this would happen?

Answers:
I get heart burn from taking it, too. I only take 10MG, and the only acidic thing I have most days is a cup of juice!
Considering that you're pregnant and are having negative effects from Adderall XR, maybe you can ask for a lower dose. That's what I would do.
Also, I notice it's best to not eat close to bed time. Unless you're just going to eat something neutral like bread.
Good luck!
The company says you can take this medication by mouth with or without food, usually once daily in the morning or as directed by your doctor. Taking this medication after noon may cause trouble sleeping.

I suggest you make sure you take it with food in the morning.
If this medication is necessary, you may need antiacid medication to help your body adjust.

Good luck
