Doctors future?

Question:
i want to be a doctor more then anything but im afraid that in the future doctors will not have jobs because they might be replaced by computers what do u think

Answers:
no computer can think like a human brain, computers are great things for all points and purposes, but doctors must have critical and sometimes abstract thinking skills...you cant just program your symptoms into some huge database and expect an accurate diagnosis.
Doctors won't be replaced ever by computers. Not unless they can make computers that really are human.
However, medicine is changing. Read all you can about the current health care crisis and about hospitalists. Also, what percentage of doctors are now from other countries, and look at statistics for admission to Medical Schools.
Also, talk to some Doctors both which have been practicing for more than 30 years and to those who are within 10 years after getting their MD about the lifestyle of a physician. Be prepared to ask questions about family life, hours on call, dealing with death, stress and health care politics (insurance regulations, government regulations). Also ask about the cost of a medical education and student loans.
Don't talk to any military recruiters about funding your education until you are sure you know what you want, what your options are, and if you are willing to serve in a combat zone and be owned by the military for a number of years (including low pay and overwhelming working conditions).
Medicine is still a rewarding & much needed profession, but it is getting more & more political and socialized, and the regulations and economics make it a profession that can suck the joy right out of you and make you cynical and hard instead of caring and compassionate. It is also a tough lifestyle. Talk to a hospital case manager, an RN, an administrator.
I'm saying, live your dream, just be sure that it is the dream you think it is first. Only you can know, but make an informed choice. Oh, and read A. J. Cronin's book "The Citadel" about a young doctor, and also Frank Slaughter's books (he was/is an MD). Read, read, read---ask questions!
Good luck---I hope you live your dreams.
the world always needs doctors
the world will always have sick people
don't be afraid
make the best out of it
