Now that the US life span is 42nd in the world do you think Congress will focus on the health care issues more

Question:
From the Aug 11th Associated Press release

Americans are living longer than ever, but not as long as people in 41 other countries.
For decades, the United States has been slipping in international rankings of life expectancy, as other countries improve health care, nutrition and lifestyles.
Countries that surpass the U.S. include Japan and most of Europe, as well as Jordan, Guam and the Cayman Islands.

"Something's wrong here when one of the richest countries in the world, the one that spends the most on health care, is not able to keep up with other countries," said Dr. Christopher Murray, head of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.

Answers:
As long as the AMA has a strong lobby, don't look for too many changes by Congress. Socialized medicine has its pros and cons. But, drug companies and others are making too much money and have too much influence to permit sweeping changes.
I'm not sure what it would take to act as a 'wake up call' for Congress. There is too much investment in the status quo and the parties involved have significant economic reasons for not addressing the problem. It's not the millionaires that are suffering from lack of health care - it's the middle class and poor. They don't have lobbies and don't make huge contributions to the candidates. Sorry to sound cynical but I guess I am.
you americans still dont get it...Im sorry but its true...Im from Europe, our health care is way less High tech than in the USA. We still have a very high life span (way higher than USA). Why ? because our lifestyle is much less focused on consumerism and our diet is oh so much better.
Scientist dont understand why it is so and Americans want more money for healthcare .like increasing the amount of drugs is going to change anything...
I mean ive been to the states its like : "oh you feeling bad ? pop the anti depressant"...For crying out loud.
