Are sleeping pills dangerous to take regularly?
Question:
I'm referring to just a cheesy sleeping pill.. no strong prescribtion stuff.
(It's just that I have an awful time sleeping without them... hot baths, camomile tea, dark room, no stimulation before bed, an empty stomach, yoga, etc., etc. all don't have too much of an effect on getting me to bed earlier.)
Thanks.

Most over-the-counter sleeping pills are antihistamines that also have the side-effect of making you drowsy. You're basically taking the medication for the side effect. As they cause a dry mouth, you probably would be wise to make sure you brush your teeth at night. I imagine you could get used to them to the point where they would not be as effective as before.
How about using melatonin. It's a natural herb that helps to make you fall asleep.
all kind of pills are dangerous ive been told..you are used to them thats why you cant sleep other way.Try to talk to a doctor and advice you
I would never recommend any of the new generation of sleeping pills, such as Ambien and Sonata, because there's no data on their safety . The only sleeping pills I recommend are those containing the antihistamine doxylamine (like Unisom SleepTabs). Doxylamine has strong sedative effects, and there's no evidence that it causes any harm when taken as advised.
But i will suggest not to take such kind of things. You will be habitual of that.
If you are not able to sleep properly, listen to slow music while sleeping, change the environment of your bedroom healty.
