Sometimes I feel light headed when I stand up, what is wrong?

Question:
Sometimes, I just stand up and everything starts to fade out in black for a second and I am extremely light headed and sometimes need to sit down for a sec. One time I even had to fall down I was so light headed. My dad says this is because I dont drink enough water but didnt really think so.. but maybe.

Answers:
You may have low blood pressure, or temporary low blood pressure from standing up too fast. It used to happen to me all the time. i researched it, because my doctor really wasn't much help, and it can also be caused by low blood volume, meaning your blood pressure is low due to not enough liquid in your veins. The solution to both - drink at least eight 8 ounce glasses of water a day, get some regular exercise, eat balanced meals, basically. Really, it could be as simple as getting a little more water, and it doesn't need to be literally water, it could be juice, milk, whatever (not caffeine or alcohol, since those actually make you lose water.
I'm not a doctor, but just doing these few things helped me.
I have that too sometimes. its called a "headrush"
i dunno what causes it, sorry.
it happens when you stand up too quick.
It's called Orthostatic Hypotension. It's when your blood pressure suddenly drops when you switch position...from sitting to standing...from laying to sitting up too quickly.

I used to get this when I was in college. Actually passed out once in the library.

You probably aren't eating enough. Make sure you are eating enough and drinking plenty of water...epecially now in the hot weather. If it tends to worse, I'd see a doc about it.
this happens when the brain is low on oxygen. you're standing up too fast and this causes dizziness and can make you faint. but nothing serious i don't think. check with your doctor.:]
Nothing is wrong with you. It is called orthostatic hypotension. When you move from a lying to sitting or sitting to standing position, your blood pressure naturally drops. It can cause you to see spots, become dizzy or light headed, and faintness. Drinking more water (8 8-10 oz. glasses per day) could increase your blood volume, which may help.
it is a sign of dehydration, you should drink i think it is 8oz of water everyday. when you are laying down, try sittingfirst for a couple minutes, then get up slowly. if your sitting, just get up slowly. you should seek medical attention, you might have a small brain tumor or a blood clot in your brain or something
