Why does MARIJUANA have a bad reputation?
Question:
Yes its additive but so is ciggerettes, and some people who smoke it often or once in a while. Ciggerettes are actually more bad for you because there have no medical advantage nor are they natural.
YES IT GETS YOU HIGH, BUT whats wrong with that?
So why does marijuanna have such a bad rep? Why is it illegal in some places?

I personally don't smoke Mary J any more, lol. I haven't in years. I think that it's ridiculous that it hasn't been legalized. It's just like alcohol. I think that it should be available to anyone over 21. Cigarettes I belive are much worse. Bud is herbal, Marlboro is not, lol. The government thinks that it's better for us all to smoke tar and a million other chemicals instead of all herbal ingredients, I guess. Marijuanna should not have a bad reputation. It's really not that big of a deal. If thats outlawed, then why isn't alcohol? I think it's just palin stupidity. There's nothing wrong with it getting you high because alcohol does the same thing. Oh and just for the record, it's not a gateway drug. That's crap. People are doing heroine and crack/cocaine without ever even trying marijuanna. Everyone makes their own choices, noone can blame what they do or use on anyone or anything.
1) It's a Gateway Drug. Meaning that once you try it, you'll eventually get used to it and the "high" effect won't happen, so you'll try some stronger stuff.
2) People did stupid things when they were high.
'cause you can grow it in your backyard and pretty much smoke it without paying TAXES... lol

first person who answered, its not a gateway drug thats just some bull someone made up to convince the goverments that it is bad for you, i think we should replace ciggarettes with pot, it is alot better for you for one, and it is easier to quit too! i mean i've done the stuff a couple of times and i dont get anymore and i havent tryed anything else, and too the second person that snwered, that is exactly right, if our goverment cant charge taxes for it than they dont like it or make it illegal, i mean THEY HAVE TAXES ON NEWPAPERS, theres taxes on everything, and they figure oh well sence its homegrown and theres no way that we can stop people from selling it on the side we dont like it

It is illegal because it, like so many other drugs and alcohol, damage you, sometimes badly. People think it's harmless, but it isn't. I'm not as impressed with the gateway drug argument, as drinking will introduce you to stronger things,a s well as people that do stronger things. We do enough things that harm us, and making them legal makes people think they are harmless when they are not. I despise the paternalism of many governments, but we do have to protect people, especially young people from ignorance and from themselves. Marijuana is NOT harmless, especially for young people. Alcohol is NOT harmless, especially for young people.
The houses of parliament,i read in this mornings paper,
are making it a lass B drug from a class C drug because some of it ,like skunk,is so strong it damages the brain irreversibly.
It also causes psychosis plus schizophrenia-style symptoms
so severe they have to be sectioned .
So leave these poisons alone.
Okay, a long time ago marijuana used to be legal. But then the Mexicans started to bring it over the border, and they were all high, and then it started getting a bad reputation. So then the government decided to make it illegal.
But now it’s just not the Mexicans using it, its pretty much everyone. And most of the people that think marijuana is bad have most likely never tried it.
Cigarettes are much more addictive then marijuana, and they have killed more people then marijuana has. In fact, some studies show that marijuana smoke doesn’t harm the body because of some of the other chemicals in it. And if you smoke marijuana responsibly, then most people will never come across a problem with it.
And yeah, it’s really stupid that alcohol is legal and marijuana isn’t. Alcohol causes more deaths and its more addictive then marijuana. And if you really think about it, a drunken person is more likely to make worse decisions then a high person. So with that said, marijuana should be legalized.
If they government were to sell it, then the numbers of alcoholics would decrease, and the number of drunk driving incidents would decrease, and the government would make so much money if they would just legalize it. :)
And marijuana is NOT a gate way drug.
Okay, look at it this way: when you go to buy a burger at a fast food place, you are able to buy many many other things there also, like fries or drinks. Just like, when you go to buy pot, you can get many other drugs also. But no one is making you get those other drugs that are worse. Just like no one is making you buy fries with your burger. Its your decision.
If the government would legalize marijuana, then they would be taking out any chance of it being a gate way drug, becuase all they would sell would be weed.
