What you're describing sounds like sleep paralysis. It isn't harmful but it is terrifying, especially when hypnogogic hallucinations are present.
that use to happen to me when i was a kid i would have nightmares and be lseeping but really awake i didnt know i was awake and i couldnt scream and i was numb and couldnt move.it doesnt happen to me anymore but i dont have dreams of not being able to move and trying to wake up.
Its called cataplexy.a condition of abrupt attacks of muscle weakness and hypotonia triggered by an emotional stimulus often associated with narcolepsy...as taken from Dorland's Medical Dictionary, 29th edition. Often people call it an out of body experience, but then again, who knows? Hope this helps.
Yes, it's a strange and scary feeling but it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you. It has happened to me sometimes; seems to be more frequent if I'm unusually tired and take a long nap during the day.
It's happened to me a few times.
a friend woke up one morning paralyzed,he had ruptured a disk in his back while asleep and could not get up,must have been a trip.he had surgery and is better now but claims he is an inch shorter
Yes. I have had the same thing happen to me. I would know I needed to get up (phone was ringing and needed to answer it, etc...) but for some reason my body is paralyzed. It is a wierd and very scarey feeling.
