I don't think you should bother
hide his cigarets?
tell him how you feel but respect his decision.
talk to him about how his smoking has negativly affected your and his life and come up with some reasons why you want him to quit. also do some research about quiting and give it to him
My father has always used to smoke when I was little. We would always try and get him to stop smoking, but nothing really worked. The only thing that can make him stop smoking is for him to realize it how bad it is for him by himself. He has to want to stop smoking.
most people think that ciggerettes is a habit its really the addiction to the buzz /relaxation... its really hard to quit because you're taking that relaxation away. buy him that niccorette gum and tell him to switch to blacks for a lil
Any cold-turkey solution is probably not going to work for very long. Trust me!
What you need to do is first rally a few people to slam him about his smoking... He can't quit successfully until he WANTS to quit. So focus on that.
A good way to quit is to fill the void of not smoking with something else. For example, chewing gum. Chewing on a pen, etc. Often the physical addiction is not that hard to overcome but it's the psychological act of doing something every hour or 2 or whatever that is hard to let go of ... find something else for him!
Also Nicorette, quit-smoking chewing gum can help him...
You can't make him stop smoking, usually with smokers the more you nag them the more they smoke. Just have a talk with him and explain to him why you want him to stop smoking, tell him you love him and you want him healthy and have him around for a long time to come. Maybe even do some research on google on the best ways to quit smoking and give them to him when you have the talk. Offer to be his "buddy" if he decides to stop smoking. Whenever he feels the urge to smoke, you two can go do something together. Catch a ball game, watch a movie, or something.
he's gotta make that decision himself -- you might mention
how important he is to you, and how much you want him
to be around for the grand children -- it's all on him,
The easiest way to quit is "Chantix" (by prescription)
Beat of luck, I'm pullin for ya.
