How can I make sure my stomach doesn't hurt?

Question:
When ever I'm in a tense situation, or I get very excited, my stomach tends to hurt. I'm about to see one of my favorite bands in concert, and I don't want this to happen. What are some precautions I can take? When I'm stressed or tense it cramps, and when I'm excited I feel bloated...lol, my stomach is so odd.

Answers:
The first obvious thing to say is that you need to see a doctor.

But, maybe it's not so very serious that you can't "control" it yourself. When you are in a tense situation or get excited, your stomach secrets more acid than is normal. This is normal for everyone, but, with some people, the additional acid goes overboard, and causes problems.

This same thing used to happen to me all the time, and it finally escalated to a stomach ulcer. The Dr. said I could have probably totally avoided this problem if I had known to:

TAKE ANTACIDS BEFORE THE SUSPECTED SITUATION IS TO OCCUR.

Or, maybe even regularly, all the time, before meals.

I take Mylanta cherry flavored liquid, sometimes the swallow capsules. You may need something more powerful like Pepcid or Zantac. I had to take Zantac for about 2 years, then was able to change to Mylanta. Like I said, you need to go to the Dr., but it won't hurt to try this -- it may be your solution.

But, whatever you do, if it keeps bothering you, it may be something else totally. Putting off seeing the doctor could cause irreparable damage.

So, take care!!
