What is a Hemotoma?

Question:
I gave birth to my son 3 years ago by c-section, and now three years later i have a pretty nice size lump in my stomach near the incision area which is very tender and painful, i recently had a ct scan done and the results came back as to maybe it could be a hemotoma and my docter suggested I go and speak with a surgeon and request a vascular ultrsound done, can someone tell me more about hemotomas and is this very serious I'm very nervous...

Answers:
It begins as a deep bruise, but if the blood doesn't dissipate in the body as usual, it can become hardened. I don't think you should worry cause this is most likely easy to remove, and if it were a blood clot he would have told you, not to worry much there either, it's not hard to remove either if you've got a good surgeon. God bless and good luck.
A bad bruise--not very serious.
A bruise
Hematoma: An abnormal localized collection of blood in which the blood is usually clotted or partially clotted and is usually situated within an organ or a soft tissue space, such as within a muscle.

A hematoma is caused by a break in the wall of a blood vessel. The break may be spontaneous, as in the case of an aneurysm, or caused by trauma.

The treatment of a hematoma depends on its location and size. Treatment can involve draining the accumulated blood
