EWWW whats that smell?

I quit smoking about to months ago, and now I notice this odor everywhere I go, it smells like a semisweet,slightly burnt synthetic-metalic, like. I never smoked in the house and I smell this odor in the laundry room, first time I smelt it on a blanket the girls had washed and dryed, now it seems like it is everywhere. Is this normal, did my girls burn something I had not heard about? are they doing some kinda drugs? or is it the way the world smells when you don't smoke. i noticed it big time in a new house I did some work in.
