What is the difference between a sauna and steam room? Which one is better?
Question:
Answers:
sauna is dry air and a steam room is moist air, I prefer the Steam Room.
Remember if you having breathing problems ask your doctor before you buy.
Saunas are a dry sort of heat and you can often get 2 hot in there and catch your breath plus they are a lot smaller some only fit 2 people. steam rooms are filled with moisture because of the steam hence it being called a steam room :o) steam rooms are much better than saunas (although if you like a dry head sauna's would be your best bet) they fit a lot more people and are more comfortable to sit in. hope it helps Nikki
Usually, a sauna is dry heat whereas a steam room is wet heat.
In a sauna, the heat is most often produced by hot coals, heated electrically. In a steam room, the heat comes from, as the name suggests, steam piped into the room.
The confusion arises because you can pour water over the coals in a sauna to fill the room with steam.
I don't think either is better than the other. They both have their uses.
Sauna's are a dry heat, steam rooms are very moist. I usually prefer the sauna after being in the pool. Great way to loosen muscles and dry off the swimsuit. :-)
