Does chewing gum help reduce stomach acid?

Question:
as in the acid that causes heart burn?

Answers:
When you start chewing gum it starts the peristalsis of the stomach (it's getting ready for the food, it thinks you are about to swallow) This movement can also increase the acid production. If you have a tendency towards heartburn or acid reflux, this could make it worse.

There is a good heartburn assessment in the link below.
Thats a good question I have never heard of it doing that.

Chewing gum will make this worse.

Your stomach thinks that food is coming so produces hydrochloric acid in response, when no food goes in - well you know the rest - heart burn or belly ache.
