You can mess your self up with any drug. I don't understand how people enjoy the feeling of having no control. Can't you just find something else you enjoy? How about roller coasters? Not much control, reality bending, vivid experience, and no permanent damage... usually. Try it. If you don't want to be burned, don't play with fire. Simple as that.
