Actually, the reason why your ear rings is because of something you heard that was to loud for your ears. There for a certain part of your ear is still reacting to that noise that creates the ringing.
As far as i know, when your ear is ringing that means you heard something loud that damaged your ear. If your ear is ringing enjoy that sound while it lasts because once that ringing stops you will never be able to hear that frequency ever again.
