Does it hurt to not have a toenail for awhile? (When the toenail falls off)?

Question:

Injured a tonail, it was red/black for what seemed like months and is going to be lost now.. will it hurt or be uncomfortable to not really have a toenail for awhile til it grows back? Never lost one before. It's not the big one

It won't really hurt, but the skin that was formerly underneath the toenail will feel tender and sensitive without the toenail covering it.

I've lost my pinky nail on my hand before, don't worry just be careful with the skin that was underneath the nail.

Yes. It will hurt especially if it is touched for about 2 weeks tops. The longer you leave open to air the better. It speeds the healing as long as you keep it clean. Just soap and water and rinsing well. Been there done that.
