Dnc for 6 month period, pcos patient?
Question:
My doctor has discussed giving me a hysto, which I've opted for; however I don't have insurance, so I'd have to pay out of pocket, I can't afford to do that until december.
She has given me the other option of having a dnc to see if it stops the bleeding.
She is a VERY good dr. been an obgyn for almost 20 years, and has gotten very good reviews by our state medical board. she is the top obgyn within three surrounding states, so I don't doubt her suggestions at all.
So, hubby and I discussed it, and I've opted for the dnc.
could someone please give me some insight on what is going to happen? how will I feel afterwards?
she has told me there is only a 15-20% chance it will stop my bleeding, but hell, at this point, I'm willing to try anything!
I've never had a child (can't conceive) or a miscarriage or abortion.
Answers:
dnc is known as D & C or Dilatation and Curettage. It is a minor surgical procedure to scrap out the uterus to make sure you do not have an unusual bleed in the uterus.
There are several Google sites if you look under Dilatation and Curetlage. See the 2 below.
Your Doc sounds like she knows what she is doing. It is a good idea for her to do the D & C first, because she will also be able to get some tissue samples. She can start with this, and if this does not work, then you go to the next step. But take it one step at a time.
I understand about no children, not being able to get pregnant. When I wanted to get pregnant, 40 years ago, we did not know about PCOS. I am almost sure I also have it, because I have most of the symptoms.
I was finally able to concieve, but we adopted 2 children, then I got pregnant. I believe that the CO2 given to me prior to my conceiving had something to do with the pregnancy. However, there is no hard evidence, nor is there anyone else that agrees with me.
Good Luck.
