Why when i fall asleep sometimes i jump and it scares me alot i can feel how scared i am when i wake up?

I do this to. Some scientist say it's you brain monitoring motor pathways in your brain. So it's like your brain checking to see if everything is working right.
You might have some issues that you have to work out. If things in your life are ok. Don't worry about ti too much. I've had dreams for many years that I can't figure out. It's normal and so are you. And I've had the dreams that you jump. I know what you mean. You'll be fine. I wish I had an answer but people are more complicated than to figure them out with a brief description of a dream... I think we all do that- I kina think of them as whole body hiccups, I usually feel like I am falling as well-it is scary, I notice it happens more when I am overtired.
My husband does it amny times as he falls asleep sometimes, never bothers him at all-wish I were so lucky.
I do it too & spoke to doctor. I forget the medical term but not to worry it is normal & harmless. Just roll over & go back to sleep.
it is called hypnotic jerk. It is under debate what causes it. I Bleive the theory that it is when ur are real tried and ur fall asleep 2 fast, u feel like u r falling and reflexes respond. When u are in deeper sleep ur muscle are paralyzed prevent u from acting out ur dream(walking).
i have those dreams all the time. they're short dreams. some are when you're falling down stairs and you're about to get hurt. so u wake up quickly and scared because it feels real. those dreams happen to alot of people
