Question about ears?

Question:
I have a cold and due to blowing my nose so much, my ear is blocked (and I can't hear very well out of it). I tried chewing gum and swallowing repeatedly but that doesn't work. Does anybody know any tricks on how to unblock your ears?
BTW... I can't take decongestants or cough and cold medications.

Answers:
Perhaps there is fluid in your ear that needs to be drained but that is worst-case-scenario. I recommend asking your doctor to see if taking a decongestant will be ok with the heart medication (I'm guessing for hypertension) will be ok? If it isn't then try asking for some remedies. Could possibly be an ear infection that could be relieved by taking an OTC that contains antihistamine (an anti-inflammatory) but then again, ask your doctor because you could have unexpected or no results all. Are you sure it was because you blew your nose too much? If it's an imbalance of pressure, that means due to blowing your nose, there is more pressure inside your head, than outside. Try holding your nose and sucking it, thus causing the equalization of pressure inside your body and outside. If one doesn't work, try the other. Hope these work =] Good luck!
Why can't you take decongestants? This is the only thing that will probably work unless you go see a doctor.
Maybe let 24 hours go by. The pressure in the ear may

resolve itself. If it gets worse and you get dizzy, you should see a doctor to see if it's an inner ear infection.
