Question:
To make a very long story short, I was in a terrible auto accident a little over a year ago. Since then, I have developed a lot of medical problems, but lately I have been recovering well. One problem I have that does not seem to be going away is my problem with balance. The doctors believe it may be a neurological problem resulting from the accident. The sensation is like being drunk (without the good part of course). I find myself off balance doing something as simple as walking. I cannot run or jump without losing my balance. So my question is, what do you think the problem is? I ask here because all the doctors I have seen so far do not really know what the problem is, they can only speculate. Did I damage some part of my brain? If so, will it heal? Is it just a matter of readjusting my equilibrium since I was bed-ridden for a long time after the accident? Any response will be appreciated and any advice or addition information is welcome.

im not a doctor, but this is my suggestion.
if it is still happening, then it is for a reason, there is somethig wrong. wheather it is serious or not isnt the point. its ur body, ur health and its up to u to make it happen. go to the doctor, ur doctor, ask him to refer you to a specialist in both nero or brain develoment. if that doctor doesnt do it, get a second opinion.
The fact is, some problems increase in severity as they are left, so dont risk it, dont leave it, just get help, and push for help and tests until they work its out. i have a condition, and most doctors blew me off for a long time unitl i pushed to get help, now im better...
a general GP wont have any idea. so u need a referal to a specialist in the area. but be prepared to pay.
You need to actually see a neurologist, not to scare you but head injuries can be linked to Parkinson's or even MS.
A neurologist will have to evaluate you to determine what injury occurred to what area of the brain and what dx can be found. There are medications to be taken that will help this- balance issues is nothing to tamper with- also there are things that can help your balance - All of these can be discussed with a neurologist.
