Question:

Answers:
Lasik eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

I was told by a doctor that there has not been enough research done to determine the long - term effect of lasik. Don't do it.
p.s. why do you think so many ophthalmologists (eye doctors) wear glasses?
It doesn't hurt. But you might want to do some research first. It can't fix your near vision - reading distance. So if you already need reading glasses or bifocals now, you'll need them even more after the procedure.
You should read up and become more knowledgeable about the procedure, the healing process and after care, before you jump right into it. It's only worth it if you truly feel you will benefit from it. How amazing would it feel to awake up in the morning and be able to see with out reaching for you glasses or putting in you contacts.
If you can wear contacts successfully, stick with the contacts. That's what I tell everybody. But if you can't wear contacts, and hate glasses, get the Lasik. But you get what you pay for. Make sure the opthamologist has done at least 200 Lasiks, and get names of his former patients and talk to them. No 2 for 1 deals. I had Lasik , and I only see 20-25. With contacts 20-15--much better. I didn't mean to confuse you, but there is just no guarantee. It doesn't hurt, it's just a little weird.
I had it done about 2 years ago and have been really thrilled with the results. I found a reputable doctor, did not just go with one of the cheapie deals. It did not hurt but was kind of weird. It was also weird to see it done on someone else and I wouldn't recommend doing so if you're squeamish.

It is true that there has not been a determination of a lot of the long-term affects, but the procedure has been around for awhile and there don't seem to be any immediate issues. That does not mean that something terrible about the surgery won't come out later.

You need to weigh the risks involved. I had glasses since I was 8 years old and could barely see a foot in front of me. My eyesight was very bad, but I did not have an astigmatism or anything other issues. If you have an astigmatism or already have problems with your night vision you may not want to have the surgery. I have not had any problems with my night vision but know many who see halos whose problem has worsened.
