Do you think the disease of addiction is curable?

Question:
I know the answer, I am just practicing openmindedness by opening up to other peoples opinion.

Answers:
There is no cure for the disease of addiction: "We suffer from a disease in which there is no cure".

Sobriety Date: October 1, 1991.
Addictions can be overcome. That may be different than cured. I know people who were on drugs can get off drugs and lead a fruitful life. I know people who have been alcoholics can quit drinking and succeed in their lives. To overcome an addiction IS success to me.
It is, i think even when you in deepest part of the addiction there is hope. The same way you entered addiction little by little, the same way you can exit little by litte but not with your own effort, 1 year ago i overcame pornography after many tries of my own effort God helped me overcame the addiction and now one year later i'm still free of that. With God's help and your availabilty anything is possible.
As a former Drug and alcohol counselor I don't accept the disease concept of addiction. Our culture allows everyone to make excuses for everything. It is simply a behavior problem and a lack of self control.
