Drug addiction is a chronic illness. This means that even though a person has undergone treatment, there will always be the possibility of relapse. In fact, relapse is often viewed by therapists as a part of the learning process. Just because a person happened to take drugs again does not mean that the drug rehab program is flawed. There are a lot of factors that can possibly bring about the relapsing of an individual. Researches have shown that stress can cause a person to relapse. Hanging out with drug users after one goes out of rehab may also get the person to use drugs again.
Because drug addiction brings about physical and psychological dependencies, I mean changes in body chemistry and mental status of the abuser. So it would be very possible the addicts get back to their abuse due to the destructions made before starting rehab treatment.

it really is down to the individual themselves, how willing and motivated they are and also that they are receiving the correct support.
some people get sent to rehab centres form prison & are told to get clean and it may help there chances but its usually the ones who are sent there by others who are not interested in getting better, its too much of there way of living.
other people who go off there own back have a stronger possibility of getting better with the correct support form project workers.
some people do find it extremely difficult, more than others do.
what u do find alot is that drug misusers have a past, maby a problem in the life that they take drugs to block out & the minute they stop the drugs these problems all come flooding back so they also may need therapy and counsilling.
not everyone who comes out of rehab centres go back on drugs, some people are very successful.
i think project workers do there best to help drug misusers as they want to see them beating the habbit and turning there lifes around for the better.
