Addiction!! help!?


Question:
okay, i dont have the normal drinking/smoking addiction. I have an eating/chewing addiction. I dont even know if there is medication to solve this, or if its really even concidered a problem. I chew (and sometimes eat) pens, pencils, bracelets, necklaces, crayons, play dough, paper, erasers plastic.. pretty much anything! I eat also small beads, fingernails and even my hair (which wont grow anymore, because once its grows, i chew it up). i want to stop. its nasty and its so childish. its not like im hungrey all the time, i just do it, when ever i see somthing, i just put it in my mouth. please help, anyhting!!

This probably is a stress re-leaser. It does have a name what you do. Pica comes to mind I am not 100% sure. You need to get into therapy asap. Call your doctor tomorrow to get the name of someone too see...I know Wille Prada I think thats it where you eat all the time and never feel full. But I think thats food related. None the less you are in deep trouble you need help NOW!!!11

well each time u think of doing it remind urself to stop and give urself a reward for every 50 times u resist puttn sumthn in ur mouth

There are medications to help with it. See your doctor and explain everything to him or her. Good luck.
It sounds like you have OCD (obsessive compulsive behavior). I would talk to your parents about get therapy for it. I don't know that they have drugs, but there are ways of working through it.

i used to have the same problem in a way...i'd chew on the side of my mouth. every time i started to, i make myself stop and interested myself in other things. for you, i'd just carry around a pack of gum everywhere, or if you wanna break the habbit with your pens/pencils/etc. put hot sauce or jalapeno juice on them. that would sure make me stop :p
i recommend you see a doctor. i don't remember the exact term, but there is a name for your condition and I believe it is treatable.
i think you should chew gum all the time so you have something in your mouth n you don't feel like chewing something like a pen or whatever which is really bad for your teeth. Try stride it last really long.
Yes, there are many types of addictions. I cannot explain them all to you because I am not qualified nor am I aware of what it is called. You may want to research under addiction disorders. Also you may consider speaking with your doctor or a therapist. It sounds as if you might become physically ill as well as having the disorder.
