Antibiotics and drinking?

Question:
i was put on antibiotics last sunday for an ingrown toenail/infection. i had the ingrown toenail removed yesterday. i still have 5 days worth of medcation left. my foot doctor told me to continue taking it. he told me it was ok to drink with it, but i'm not sure. i have read so many different things, good and bad. i'm not sure what my safest bet is? is a few drinks ok? or should i steer clean completly?

Answers:
odd your Dr would tell you that. typically as long as you take them hours before you drink you'd be ok but Dr's will tell you not to drink at all to avoid any chance of it happening. knowing the smarts on some people they'd wash the antibiotics down with a beer. u should be ok if you take them in the morning and drink in the evening. in moderation ofcorse

just make sure its not Flagyl your on because if it is your Dr is being a jerk.. Flagyl + Drinking will cause you to become violently sick ..
If the Dr says it is okay then you can =just go easy on it okay
I was always advised the alcohol inhibited the antibiotic, in other words the antibiotic would not do it's job, it becomes ineffective. Be careful as some antibiotics will have the same effect on the pill.
I have never heard of a doctor telling you it is ok to drink alcohol while on any medication,
But if the doctor said it is ok to drink on this medication maybe you don't have a infection and he just gave you a placebo ( sugar pill ) because it is all in your head
Usually their is a label on the prescription from the pharmacy telling you what not to do while on the medication,
ask the pharmacy they will tell you,
but I wouldn't because some antibiotics don't work in your system if you are drinking and you are just waisting your money buying it and some could kill you .
