Abortion : HELPHELPHELPHELP?
Question:
are abortions free on the NHS?
can girls under the age of 16 have an abortion without their parents finding out?
how long does it take to recieve authorization for an abortion?
please help
Answers:
OK, abortions are free, and if you are sure that this is what you want it is vital to contact a doctor as soon as possible. The sooner a termination is carried out the safer and less traumatic it is. Since you are 16 years your confidentiality is sacrosanct, in Scotland it would be respected, even if you were younger. However I really would strongly advise you tell your parents, you will need their support, and it is common to be very low and weepy after a termination, this is difficult to hide. In an ideal world patients referred for TOP ( Termination) should be seen within a week and treated within another week. Unfortunately this often is not the case, it will vary immensely from area to area.
I think they are free at awomens clinic, but not the nhs. and no, you dont have to tell your parents.
yes to both...as long as you show that you are old enougth and responsible enougth to make that sort of choice on your own then you can have it done with out your parents knowing only if you are over 14 though...good luck
you little ....
I cant answer any of your questions but just tell your mom anyway
Yes they are free on the NHS.
Not sure about parent authorisation though, but I suspect you can.
Go and see your GP as soon as possible and he?she will be able to sort it out for you fast.
Please be more careful in future.
Abortion should not be taken lightly.
Make sure you use contraception.
OK first if you are under 16, i think your parents have to be told,
yes it can be done on the NHS, for free
Normally take about 2 weeks from seeing Dr to get appointment date.
if this information is for you, maybe you should talk to an adult before you do anything
Yes, Yes and not very long. Two doctors have to authorise it though...
hiya hunny i was in a meeting about this topic just 3 days ago
yes you can have an abortion with ur mom or dads permision
a local flamily planning clinic can help or if in your are there is something called new deal youth workers they can help the doctors can give advice to you if you want some more information contact me my msn is kirsty@bloxwich.com and my email is krusty_03@hotmail.co.uk
Well yes they are and your parents dont need to know BUT there are risks with abortions that could effect you ability to carry a child later on in life and emotionally. You really need to look into this rather than using it as an escape route. The sensible thing to do is talk to your parents its a MASSIVE thing to go through without support from the right people.
DONT DO IT! There will come a time when you will hate yourself for doing something so selfish. There are other options, and yes they are tough but trust me they are not as tough as a life time of regret.
yes they are free on nhs, and under current law noone has to know about it, so your pareents wont find out- your doctor may push for you to tell your parents in order to make sure you understand, but they can not by laew actually make you tell your parents. they may put you in contact with a councellor though. authourisation can differe, and it depends how long you have been pregnant (as to whether it is a medical or surgical abortion) generally (for a medical abortion)you go for an hour consultation and then there is another one that lasts 2-3 hrs where you have the abortion. for surgical its often andother consultation in between.
hope ive helped and dont worry!
Abortions are free on the NHS.
First what you need to do is speak to an responsible adult preferable your parents. You can also speak to brook advisory clinic which we give you confidential advice.

Once your pregnancy is confirmed you will usually only wait a few weeks to have the termination usually before you are 12 weeks pregnant.
You really need to speak to an adult about this matter especially if your under age. Good luck and don't leave this as it won't just go away.
yes theyre free on the NHS, you can have an abortion at any age without parental consent, and it can take up to two weeks to get an appointment because it is free service.
yes they are free.
u need a guardian present but it doesn't have to be ur parents,
u do need to see the doctor, check u out see how far gone u are, then they transfer you to a clinic, but u only go for a check up first then they will make an appointment for the termination, it could take atleast 2-3 weeks depends on where ur clinic is and if there are spaces...
good luck!
do what u think is right, dont do what everyone else tells ya to do. if its right for u then have the baby, or if it isn't right, then its not right. its down to u really. if ur that young, a baby wont ruin ur life but it would hold u bak, up to u tho..
best of luck! x
i dont know about the law but you should reconsider... it is a baby you have in you... are you sure you want to just throw it away?
go to a family planning clinic...get some advice ,
You'll have to see your GP, this can be done without your parents knowing. However, if (and a big if at that) you are pregnant, and decide to have an abortion your parents will have to know. You'll also need help before and afterwards, as when your older you may wonder "what if I hadn't".
Talk to childline, definately your GP, female one maybe best. And your parents, or just your mum to start with. Yes it'l be a shock to them, but they will probably be supportive of you. Alternatively consider adoption, or keeping it.
I am generally against aborting unless there is an underlying medical or health problem. But the decision to abort or not is yours with the support of those closest to you.
Good luck
yes , but i think u should talk with ur parents first..its not as simple as it sounds..my friend had an abortion recently..i was there with her through the whole procedure and its the worst experince ive had and i wouldnt wish it on anyone..so plz speak to ur parents and im sure what ever u decide..they will be there for u..good luck x
I believe your doctor can refer you to a clinic for an abortion and it will be paid for by the nhs. Anything that goes through your GP has to be confidential so they can't tell your parents. But, the clinic can refuse to perform the operation on you without your parents consent because you are under 18. I think they look at the individual circumstances surounding this and may take consent from another adult (aunty, sister, close relative etc.)
Abortions are not something to walk into without thinking about the consequences (emotional and physical.) But then being a mum when still a child yourself will also have consequences.
It's a toughie, but at least you have the right to choose.
yes they are free on nhs but sometimes theres bit of waiting list so u need to get along to yr doc asap. i think its poss to have one without yr parents finding out but u must tell someone in case u have any complications after, my daughters friend did this and had severe bleeding had to be rushed back in hospital and so had to tell her mum eventually and she was ok about it. if there is any way u can tell yr mum then u should so she doesnt get any shock, but i can understand that u may not be able to so dont let that stop u getting advice on termination. go to yr gp or local family planning clinic or any youth advisory service in yr area asap.
They are free, yes. Under 16s can have them, but it is at the dr's discretion whether they inform your parents. There was a case that went through the courts a year or so ago of a 14 year old whose school nurse suggested that she get an abortion, but her mother didn't know until later on. Her mother was furious that this had gone on and tried to have the law changed.

If a doctor suspects that rape/sexual abuse has gone on with someone under the age of consent, then they can inform a family member or alert social services, because their first and foremost priority is the health and safety of the young patient, and they must take steps to help. The same goes for teachers who suspect abuse in a minor, or any healthcare worker.
For the record, the law states that under 16s are not legal to have sex for a reason. If this is a personal question for you, then you must recognise that there are serious health implications - pregnancy is not the only possibility here. You must take steps to ensure your health has not been jeopardised in any other way - please speak to your doctor as soon as possible.
take responsibility for your actions, if your old enough to have sex your old enough to live with the consequences & if you want to kill (sorry if that word offends but thats what your doing so i refuse to sugar coat) your baby think about it very carefully & reasurch the procedure as you may regret it
If you are less then four months along you can very safely take a herb and the fertilized egg will slide out without problem, and your period will start as normal, nobody would ever know. If you are farther along you could have heavy bleeding afterwards and would need to see a doctor.
These herbs are available at any health food store for about $3.00 to $12.00 a bottle. I have located most of them at my local store, so they should be available anywhere.
Angelica: can cause uterine contractions
Lovage: causes uterine contractions
Mistletoe: can cause contractions
Pennyroyal: can cause miscarriage.
Rue: can cause miscarriage
Tansy: can cause uterine contraction
Wild Ginger: an ammenogogue that causes uterine contractions
Wormwood: stimulates uterine contractions and be toxic in large doses.
These should only be used in safe dosage amounts according to recommendations on the bottle.
Here is a website on what to expect during a herbal abortion.

Nutmeg can cause a miscarriage in large doses, but can also make you sick. Want an abortion? Just look in your spice rack! I would NOT recommend nutmeg, as it could make you sick, but if someone is denied an abortion they may have no other choice.
