Rude Nurses?

Question:
Have you ever had a bad experiences with nurses while you are at the hospital? My boyfriend is in the hospital right now, and there is an old man who is in the bed next to him, and all of the nurses are so rude to this poor old man. I was so shocked and appauled when I saw how they were treating him. He has a urinary catheter and asked the nurse to help him go to the bathroom because he had to pee really bad, and the nurse yelled at him that he has a urinary catheter and he doesn't have to pee! She thinks he is hard of hearing, but he's not. so she screams everything at him. Then she was talking to the other nurse and muttered under her breath 'Oh my f*cking god!" she thought he didn't hear her, but he did. When he asked for pain meds she screamed at him more, then muttered "this should put him out for a while so we don't have to deal with him." He Can Hear them!! And he remains so polite.

Answers:
That is verbal abuse
Is against the code of ethics and is illegal
report them to the state... get names and the old mens name.
Go up the food chain
That is simply not acceptable
YOU ALWAYS GET BAD APPLES WITH THE GOOD ONES.
I would report this to the head nurse, and if she doesn't care then ask for her supervisor, the way I see it, if you can help someone-DO IT. God Bless
Yes not just old w/ ppl Often & out right~they need to be reported to admuinistration Ive had To Do this before-We Do have rights to be treated w/ respect ~U need to report them whenever you witness this~but yeah theres a lot of bad becuz there are so few :0(
while that's certainly not acceptable behavior, it might be that she was just having a bad day. Nurses have to work long, hard hours and especially if they are are a nurses aide or an lpn, they aren't paid exceptionally well and often treated like idiots by the doctors, it might have just been a hard day for her.
ask to speak to the head nurse if nothing is done ask to see the head of the hospital it is great that you are concerned because this kinda thing happens all the time and alot of the time they get away with it and just think they say they are underpaid if they did there job the way they are suppose to maybe they would get paid more or they just need to get some compassion
well my mum has when she had my baby bro joshua. she came in 3 days afterward and he wouldn't eat so she said ,"well your not takinh him home if he isnt gonna eat" and she wouldnt leave him alone. and whenever she asked of she could see him she would say "Well i have better things to do then tend to your every need"
I am pretty sure he could sue them and if he doesn't wish to or can't, go talk to the head doctor. Report she is abusing an older man in your friends room. And tell the old man that they are being disrespectful and he can do something about it.
Watch the news. There is a nursing shortage and they work to nurses they have 12 and 14 hours days. People without anyone to come help them while in the hospital put and added strain on all the resources of the hospital.
I am not defending this nurse but what I have described is the most likely problem.
This is where volunteers can hel the most in a hospital by sitting with old people who are alone. Tell your boyfriend to call volunteer services in the hospital and tell them the old man needs help.
i would report her there is no reason why she had to be mean to this old man
i feel really bad for him

she needs to be out of that hospital ASAP
