For immediate relief, use a heating pad and some ibuprophen. My husband swears by 21 year old Scotch, but I stick to the ibuprophen. Walking helps, too. If you stay in bed, you'll stiffen up...
For longer term, make sure your body mechanics are good and that you're taking frequent breaks when doing things like scrubbing the floors. Strengthening your core and streching your hamstrings also will help your general posture and make it less likely to harm your back in the future.
You should feel better in a couple of days. If you don't or if you have pain that goes down into your behind or leg or if you notice any weakness, go to the doctor right away. It may be more serious than a pulled muscle...
Ice is the best 15min on then 15 min off some people do not work well with heat and if you must use heat use a moist heating pad. Go and see a chiropractor I wish I would have before I let my lower back get so bad I had to have surgery! They work wonders mine saved me from having to get a second surgery. Also be aware that Ibuprofen and various other pain medicines will not solve the problem they will only prolong it. Good luck
