Health concerns over getting a tattoo?

Question:
I have been thinking about getting a tattoo for a long time. Nothing too crazy, but something simple to remind me to do the right thing. I am planning on getting it on my wrist, so that in can be hidden under my watch so it is not visible at all times, only when I want it to be. What type of health problems/complications can arise from getting a tattoo? I try to live a health lifestyle, and if it is gonna mess that up, I would rather not get it.

Answers:
1. Choose a reputable, LICENSED tattoo agency. How to tell if someone's licensed? Ask them. Licensure means the agency/individual is inspected regularly by the licensing agency (here in OK, it's the State Health Department) and must follow that agency's guidelines.

2. Make sure you receive aftercare information. Follow that information. If you have questions about your healing process, ask your tattoo artist. This may mean returning to the agency to show him/her the tattoo.

3. Visit different licensed agencies to talk to them. Tell them exactly what your concerns are. They're working for you! When looking for a reputable body-piercing parlor, I walked out of five different agencies without even talking to them.

4. Discuss ink with your tattooist. Some individuals are sensitive to different-colored inks; some inks may contain ingredients or chemicals that may cause allergic reactions. Ask about this. Ask what he/she recommends.

Happy tattooing! You are wise to ask questions, research, and educate yourself before considering a tattoo.
just take care of it after you get it, wash it with warm soapy water and put lotion on it. keep it uncovered after you get it. you should be fine!
As long as you go to a reputable artist, there should be no risk. you won't be able to wear your watch while it heals but after that yo should be fine. Just be sure to use lotion on the tattoo. As far as health concerns...there should be none. The worst thing I heard is that you can't give blood for a while (and I honestly don't know or believe that that is true). I have one and plan to get another...my fiance has 3 an neither of us have had any issues with them.
Well, getting a tattoo is equivalent having a surgery or going to a dentist's. The difference is doctors and dentists have to adhere to strict sanitation regulations. I am not a doctor but my doctor friends told me one can get diseases like hep B, hep C and other fatal diseases.
