Question for Dancers & Doctors?

Question:
When I dance, especially to an upbeat song like "Footloose", I seem to get exhausted (after about a dozen songs of course) and when I do, my body tingles and my heart races and my body sweats and I get a burst of energy then I collapse a bit after. Is this feeling a form of adrenaline rush?

Answers:
More than likely, but I'm no doctor, just a dancer :-) After dancing for a while, I just flop into a chair and drink a lot of water for about 10 minutes straight. I don't think there is anything seriously wrong, just remember to drink a lot, and eat possibly eat more carbs if you plan on dancing hard-core like that for a long time. Good luck!
yup
Your heart races because dance is a form of aerobic exercise. Once your heart starts beating fast, you sweat to cool your body. That means that blood has to rush to the extremities to carry the heated interior blood to the surface where it can cool, hence the tingles. Your get tired, then get a burst of energy (most people call it a second wind). After that you're done. You've used up your blood sugar stores at the point.

To dance longer, eat a meal that combines complex carbs and protein before you dance. Protein will help stretch your energy levels longer.

Otherwise, have lots of fun.
