What is the profession called when you go to a doctors office...(See details)?

Question:
You know when you go in a doctors office for a checkup and the doctors Assistant comes in and takes your temperature, blood pressure etc and writes it down and say the doctor will be in shortly. What is that job called? Thats what i want to do. And if possible - anyone know how much they would make an hour? and how many years of college you need to go through to get there?

Answers:
i think they are called medical assistants. they dont make that much.15-20 an hour. you dont need college. i think its a 2 year course you take.
Certified Nurse Assistant

wage = 15 - 25 per hour

there is an 18 month CNA certification program required
That can be various people that hold various titles as a matter of fact.

They could be an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), an RN (Registered Nurse) or a MA (Medical Assistant). Most likely a doctor does not hire a CNA, as normally the same "nurse" gives you injections, draws your blood and fills out paper work (which a CNA is not instructed or authorized to do).

I'd definetly google each title for more information. I could spend years explaining the titles and salaries and what not.

Now myself, I'm an RN so in essence I could do that job. However, there is more of a demand for RN's in a hospital (and they also get paid more) therefore I have chosen to work there. Plus, I like the feeling of it as well!
They are called Medical Assiatant. They do not make much money on the whole, unless you work for an old fashion doctor or for a really big company like Kaiser. Low end $7-10 an hour, high end $14-18 an hour, also depends on where you live . Schooling is tricky. DO NOT go to one like Western Career College, Silicon Valley College. They will promise you unrealistic hourly wages and will cost you between $8,000 and $15,000 and it will take you years to pay it back! This I know! A lot of Adult Education schools, tied into local school districts offer courses for around $2,000, books and grants available ( Concord, California as an example) also try a community college.
If you have the time go for something a little higher up on the medical food chain, like an Xray Tech, Surgical Tech, EKG Tech or LVN or even an RN. The school maybe a little longer but the financial gain is so worth it.
Good luck to you!
