Don't think there is one. Although I imagine you can have a chest infection without a chesty cough.
Generaly nothing the virusses for the laast couple of years hang on for months .
Infections usually have associated fever. IMO a doctor needs to assist you with this question.

Well the cough is caused by something- allergies, smoking, a cold. If it is hanging around for more than a week or two, it would be a good thing to get it checked out, as better safe than sorry. An infection can usually be aided with antibiotics but not always. Good luck

An infection in the lungs is very serious. People die from it.
If you are coughing up anything green or blowing your nose and your discharge is tinted green, those are signs of infection, full-blown.
