How do I GAIN weight? I am about 20 lbs underweight...?


Question:
I want to gain weight in a reasanably short time. I am 13 years old, 5 foot, and wiegh 80 pounds. that should leave me at 16% bms.
I am "supposed" to be at 100lbs... I think I would look fat like that...but the doc says that I would look normal. EVREYONE tells me I'm to skinny.

On an average day, this is my diet.

Breakfast=Apple, protien bar, 16oz water.
Lunch= Apple, 8oz water.
Snack= Peanuts (10 oz), milk 8 oz, banana
Dinner= Lean meat (of some kind, usualy steak or chicken),
2 cups salad, 1 cup veggies, mashed potatos, and 16 oz
of fruit juice.

I thought I ate pretty normal. But everyone says I dont.
We go out and get Mc Donald's once every two months. And other then that, we don't eat out.

Any1 got some suggestions? I NEED to gain wieght. I want 20 pounds in by Christmas. :) any suggestions?

you should start eating more calories than the ones your body uses on a daily basis..figure out ur calorie maintance level and then eat 500 more calories than that...lets say its 2000 so you should start eating 2500 from now on until you get to the weight you want. Keep eating fruits and veggies.and also eat alot of protein...chiken, turkey, fish...etc..also some healthy fats..peanuts, olive oils..ok hope i helped..
Talking to a dietitian is the safest way... that way, you can work with them to set up a meal plan and exercise regiment to help you gain weight.
The "powder supplement shakes" should only be used as an assistance to diet/exercise, not as a soul source.

Also, to note, the WORST way to gain weight is just to eat more... it's moreso eating the right things to gain the weight to make sure you're getting more of the healthy stuff.
more protein, preferably during lunch since you're not eating a real meal during lunch and more carbs. Try having some sandwiches with whole wheat bread and pasta. I can think of a lot more fattening things but this is probably the best way to add more to your diet without getting unhealthy.
You need to start eating real meals...like not just apples for lunch and breakfast.
At each meal you should have a bit of something from each food group if you can do it without getting too full. I eat by grazing all day, 6 small meals and some snacks thrown in.
Try eat whole grain and multi grain breads more/english muffins-wheat or bran, whole grain crackers like triscuits, wheat things, kashi cereal is great b/c it is loaded with fiber and protein. Low fat dairy products, fruits and veggies, add cheeses, lean meat, protein like other types of nuts since you like peanuts, try pnutbutter.
Other nuts with monounsaturated fats(good fat) include:
walnuts
pistachios
pine nuts (one of the nuts with the highest protein content)
almonds
pecans

Also, keep drinking plenty of water and maybe you could try gaining muscle too, since muscle weighs more than fat. Get some free weights/barbells, of some different weights, 3, 5, 7, 8, and 10 lbs. This will prevent you from gaining just fat and no muscle. Eat dessert too!
im also 13 years old, 5 foot but im 87 lbs but we're almost the same... well for lunch all you have is an APPLE?!? and water... try getting a turkey sandwich or something ( turkey is a great alternative to ham cause ham is high in fat ) maybe you should try to eat a bit more... like instead of 1 plate eat 1 1/2.. people tell me im too skinny too.. literally my wrists are SMALL but i don't care... i like me cause im me
hang out with me for one weekend. just kidding. you need more fat. start eating popcorn soaked in butter and lots of taco bell. drink sodas and energy drinks and whole milk. and milkshakes. and fajitas and nachos and beef stroganoff and ham and cheese hotpockets

Well one weigh that Jared Leto gained 62lbs for Chapter 27 was to microwave pints of ice cream and drink it. (it's pretty unhealthy but affective) good luck =]
