Sometimes after eating a very big meal, my upper stomach begins to bother me at night. What should i do?

Question:
Today, for example, I ate a very big lunch, and when dinner time rolled around I already started to feel the pain in my upper stomach so I didn't even have dinner. It's so painful to the point that I can't lie down. I've tried taking alka-seltzer, tums, rolaids, even nexium for six months, nothing works. Sometimes when I take a big dump it helps. What's wrong with me and what should I do to help take care of this problem?

Answers:
I use to have this problem all the time, it hurt so bad, I had to go to the emergency room once cause it hurt so bad. The stupid doctors would just tell me, " take some tums or Rolaids cause it's just indigestion". They were half right. It was indigestion, but tums and Rolaids won't help if you don't stop it before it starts and find the reason why it's happening in the first place. You said in your example that you had a really big lunch, right? I use to stuff myself all the time and I would get this pain all the time. Here is what I did. I started eating more small meals per day, about 6 meals but much smaller than usual, almost so you still feel hungry afterward. If you still feel hungry drink water, always drink water throughout the day, besides you'll be eating again soon anyways. Your digestion should get use to this and you should be good. I wish I could explain in better detail why this works but it's too long. But it worked on me, you might as well try. Good Luck.
eat less
ummm dont eat so much!
Why dont you stop eating your meals like a duck. Chew your food and eat less of it.
You may have a medical condition called "GERD" for which your doctor can prescribe a specific medication... it can be harmful to your esophagus so you should probably get this checked out.
Stop eating so damn much! You're body is trying to tell you something.
my dad has this, he has GERDs which is acid reflux. his was so bad he would stay up all night because he couldnt sleep. It helps if he sits in a "La-Z-Boy" position, or buy a special pillow if you have that issue. It's in the esophagus and its import to contact a doctor. If a doctor is inconvenient for whatever reason, stay away from caffiene, citrus, my dad had issues with tomatos, etc. Every person is different, but I understand your pain.
eat slower
chew your food well before swallowing
and only eat until you are full
do not eat every last bit of food on the plate
if you are already full up before the plate is empty
and drink/sip water before ,during ,and after dinner
then refrain from any physical exertion
for 45Min's to a hour after a meal
u should eat at least 2.5 hours before sleeping not just for the food to digest well, reduce acidity and bloating, to gain less weight too.
u are doing everything wrong. u are eating before sleeping and eating big meals.

many fit people eat smaller meals spread across the day.
instead of eating a heavy lunch and dinner, they split the meals in two so in between u feel less hungry and ur metabolism stays high.
don't skip breakfast or else ull end up having a very big lunch.

eat ur food slow.

it sounds like you need food enzymes. They break down the food when your body doesn't make enough hydrochloric acid to break down your food, it's the acids from the food and the indigestion of it that causes pain and upset stomach. All the antacids you have used encourage your body to stop producing it's own acids to break down the foods. a good website to go to and order this (inexpensive) product is www.mynsp.com/kandismm

you should also look up the harmful effects of antacids.
