Does living in a desert climates help people with Arthritis?
Question:
Answers:
No. If you mean by change of climatic conditions, then the answer is NO. Arthritis is a condition caused by the inflammation of the joints. Usually the knee joints get worn off and the fluid inside the joint capsule (synovium) and there is friction between the bones. This causes the joints to swell and inflict pain.
Arthritis-related joint problems include pain, stiffness, inflammation and damage to joint cartilage (the tough, smooth tissue that covers the ends of the bones, enabling them to glide against one another) and surrounding structures. Such damage can lead to joint weakness, instability and visible deformities that, depending on the location of joint involvement, can interfere with the most basic daily tasks such as walking, climbing stairs, using a computer keyboard, cutting your food or brushing your teeth.

i hear the hot weather is good for it but deserts climates can get very cold at night
hot and dry, I've been told
Although I've noticed when I go to the Caribbean, which is hot and dry parts of the year and hot and wet other parts, my arthritis is better all the time.
And Nevada and Arizona can get really cold, I've been there and it hurts my bones.
It seems to be helpful in several ways.for arthritis, because it is dry and warm.and it helps people who suffer from asthma ... for the same reason..
cheers
I believe this is true. I have arthritis and I know mine bothers me more when the weather is going to change, say if it's going to rain, or when it starts to get colder. So the drier warm climate is much easier on those bothered with arthritis.
Yes, it does. My Mom has severe rheumatoid arthritis and she moved from an Eastern state to Phoenix, AZ twenty some years ago and it made a big difference for her. The dry climate really helped her. Of course she is still in a lot of pain but it's not as debilitating as it would be if she was in cold, wet weather.
That was once believed to be true. That's why people used to go out to the desert and live in places like Phoenix AZ. The problem was..these areas got so populated, with houses and condos and green grass that modern living in the dessert caused all sorts of allergies. So, it works...to a point now...but used to work wonderfully.
I have Fibromyalgia and Arthritis. I live in Northern US and our climate is very humid. When it's cold and there is a lot of moisture in the air, it makes it pretty miserable.
When the humidity is high, my conditions flare up. It is said, that drier climes are the best for such conditions. Although, I don't like real hot weather either.
