Is it okay to drink when on antibiotics?
Question:
Answers:
It's fine - except you stop the antibiotics from working
It's best to avoid alcohol if you can when taking antibiotics.
the alcohol knocks out the effects of the antibiotics so do not drink until you have cvompleted the course.
if you cannot stay away from alcohol for that long get a book on overcoming alcohol addiction
Alcohol can lessen the effect of the antibiotics and therefore isn't advised. However just a couple would be OK and I certainly wouldn't make a habbit of it. Even getting blind drunk wouldn't exactly kill you it would just negate the effect of the drugs.
Don't take your antibiotics with beer or wine. You can still drink it though.
Water is fine, but if you want the antibiotics to work properly I'd leave off the alcohol until you finish the course
No! Alcohol competes with the antibiotic in your bloodstream.
Low does of alcohol (1-2 drinks) will heighten your risk for side effects. Nausea, diarrhea, dizzy spells, migraines, convulsions and worse. Moderate alcohol consumption will stop the antibiotic from working completely and allow bacteria and viruses to flourish in your body. The alcohol can also transform the antibitoic into toxins that will harm your organs.
Also, the antibiotics will magnify the effects of alcohol, which may seem like a grand idea.but it wont magnify the feel good part, it will emphasize the hangover part!
NO !
There are a couple of problems if you drink whilst taking antibiotics.
The alcohol will neutralise the antibiotics and so make them a waste of time.
When the antibiotics are taken its because your own system is not strong enough to fight infection so,not only are you not getting your natural defences charged up you are also making your bodies own protection weaker which,in turn can cause further problems.
I assume you are on a seven day course, just give up drinking until you have finished your present course, your health is worth more than a couple of drinks.
For how much I know it's only dangerous beacause you can get drunk much much quicker, that's it. No worries everything for people but with reasonable limits...
l wouldnt advise it
no your doc should have told you yhat and you should of listened
It depends on the antibiotic, for example there is no interaction with penicillins, but if you take alcohol with metronidazole it produces vomiting.
Antibiotics marginally reduce the efficacy of the contraceptive pill, however recorded instances of pregnancies with this combination are very low worldwide, there is a theoretical risk so extra precautions are advised.
Yea but they wont work
