Does anyone take Citalopram?

Question:
My husband takes prozac and his doctor has put him on this new one called citalopram hydrobromide. she said he can swap over straight away. i'm worried because a friend of mine was taking seroxatine and her doctor took her off them slowly then gave her another to try. also want to know how people felt on them.

Answers:
I was put on Citalopram about a month ago and I feel fine, getting better and better by the day to tell the truth. The doctor knows what he is on about when it comes to anti-depressants. My mum is on the seroxatine and she had the same thing as your friend done to her but I was Fluvoxamine and I transferred onto Citalopram straight away. I think it all depends on the catagory of Anti depressant drug as to if you can or cant go on them immediatelly.

Hope this helps
Have a good one :)
no he will be fine. its a good ssri a better one than prozac which is now quite archaic
I was prescibed Prozac but it wasn't good for me. I was "To" happy, manic in fact. So i was put on citalopram. I just changed over with no problems at all and now feel so much better.
I take citalopram 20mg per day and have had no problems. Widely used for depression and also migraine management
citalopram is a newer and much better drug - he will still need to be reviewed regularly ( every month) by his Gp to monitor his mood though.
I'm on 20mg citalopram am ok but going to see if i can get it increased cause i don't feel I'm getting any better the only side affect I'm finding is that it makes me really really thirsty
