Buy Zicam and Saline nasel spray. (should total like $5) Use them religiously together and you will be fine in a few days. Throat issues (i.e. coughing) 99% of the time come from post-nasel drip from your nasel cavities...fix the problem that still exists there then you'll be fine.

FYI #1 - Saline liquid in your nasel cavities creates an 'inhospitable' environment for whatever is making a home in your nose.
FYI #2 - Doctor's can't do anything about curing viruses, only easing symptoms.
