It depends what the bacteria are. I'll not bring up viruses. You have more bacteria on you and in you than you have human cells. You could not live without them. Fortunately, most of them are neutral or beneficial to you. Take a biology course or better a microbiology course and you'll have a better understanding of an interesting field.

You can certainly get germs and especially pass them along to babies, kids.. easily. There are many ways that things are not nesecarily sterile well lots of things are just carry your hand sanitizer if you get that icky feeling when you touch something..
