My eyes are blue and are really sensitive to sun light. Anyone know why?

Question:
The title gives you a lot. But it seems like everytime I walk outside and it's really sunny my eyes start to hurt really badly. I almost can't go outside without sunglasses. Even if it's just a little sunny. Is it because I have blue eyes or why is it? Should I go see my doctor? I don't wear glasses either. I actually have really good vision.

Answers:
I think it may be due to a lack of pigment for protection. I'm not sure, but I have sensitive blue eyes as well. I don't think there is any reason to go to the doctor unless it is affecting your safety (driving, etc.) Just keep sunglasses handy or hanging off your neck. You can always ask your eye doctor when you go in for a regular checkup.
Yes its a known fact anyone with blue eyes are more sensitive to the sun, I even have a cat with blue eyes that everytime he comes out in the sun he haves to squint his eyes. Lol.
I'm the same exact way and i have really bright blue eyes. Also when i get my eyes dilated it lasts a week, i think it's cuz our eyes dialate both ways slower
Less eye pigment increases your sensitivity to sunlight. Eat a handful of shelled Sunflower Seeds every day and within a week, your sensitivity will vanish.
