Anyone have Interstitial Cystitis(IC) and is taking Elmiron?

I've had IC for 7 years. I took Elmiron for the first 3 years of it and noticed no significant change in symptoms except that i could eat more acidic foods without as much of a problem. For the painful sex symptoms, talk to your Dr. about a topical anesthsia..I was able to get a low percentage topical novicane cream to help with the aftermath of intercourse :)
The other thing that really helps me is drinking a TON of water afterwards, making sure you're emptying your bladder and using a cool washcloth to soothe afterwards.
However, as with IC, the Elmiron effects everyone differently so it is always worth giving it a try!!

My wife has IC and Elmiron helps but only if you take it exactlly as the doc prescribed daily. It also helps to stay away from drinks that have any type of acid or caffeine in them. This pretty much limits you to water which kinda sucks but supposedlly if you take the medication regularlly it strenthens the tissue so that you dont have that problem anymore.
