Do general practicioners have to have malpractice insurance to practice medicine?

Question:
i know surgeions have to have it , but am not sure g.p.'s need it

Answers:
No they do not. Doctors do not have to have the insurance it would just be stupid not to have it.
Mistakes are sometimes easy to make, sad but true. Docs are only human and seems everyone is sue crazy. Another point is that some docs are incompetent and need to pay for their mistakes.
So for whatever reason, it would be futile for a doctor to practice medicine without some type of insurance.
Any professional today needs malpractice insurance if they expect to survive.
YES to cover your patients if you make a medical mistake
and is recommended as if you are sued then you will lose every thing and who would take the risk
Pays to cover your butt
