I'm VERY worried about my mother's health. what can i do to help?urgent!?
Question:
i searched the web and it says that having too much soft drink causes loss of calcium. besides getting her to have calcium filled food, what else can i do to help?
Answers:
You are correct about soft drinks causing a lack of calcium - the carbonation eats away at bones. Carbonation is the reason pregnant women are not supposed to have soft drinks - it harms the natural growth of bones of the babies.
My husband drinks "Moose Milk" where he mixes diet cola or cola with milk. He loves it...maybe she could start to drink that and slowly ease to chocolate milk to build up her calcium.
She should definitely get on a vitamin like Women's One a Day - it has more calcium.
She should definitely cut her pop intake down. Slowly work down to one can a day. Don't let her buy bottles, just cans - it will limit the consumption.
Have her get some exercise by walking with her.
Lastly, have her eat meals rich in calcium with foods like broccoli, milk, cheese, peas, cottage cheese, and fish.
Good luck and I hope your mom feels better! :)
there is nothing you can do other then talk to her- but even that will become annoying to her and she probably won't take any better care of herself. The only thing you can do is take care of yourself and show her what a healthy lifestyle is...lead by example.
has she had her blood sugar checked? try talking to her and see if she will get a blood draw done and go from there. low or high blood sugar can cause mood swings and poor circulation and you can try some calcium supplements
